The Strange Machine

I pulled the dial ever so slowly but then one of the weirdest noises I have ever heard just came out of nowhere
“Ranka Chank!”
I took a step back not knowing where one of my crazy uncles inventions might go, but I quickly came to my senses and realised that my uncle wouldn't have sent this machine if it was dangerous or could harm me. So I crept up to the machine slowly like a tortoise and as quiet as a mouse and as soon as I pressed that play button my new adventure began…

“Boop, Beep, Crank, Zip… POP”
I honestly thought I was one of those Umpa Lumpas from the chocolate factory making something crazy for the kids to go nuts about. But no those are just the sounds of the wacky machine my uncle sent me, I don’t know what he was thinking it only makes a wand! I even held it and said
“Abracadabra!”
But I guess I could see if it works if I thrash it at something, let’s see, oh i’ll use that pot. And to my surprise the pot just absolutely disappeared! I don’t know what happened?

The next day I soon received a letter from my uncle saying  that someone is after him so watch out for anything suspicious. I read the letter over and over again thinking why should I watch out they are after him not me, it’s not like i’m his next in kin and they can take me and pressure him into giving up his precious science inventions, Oh wait they CAN! Oh no.

A few seconds after I received this devastating news I heard the door shut. Then two mysterious shadows came in the room. They came up to me quietly and said in a deep manly voice
“Are you Maddie Cromwall?”
I was frozen, I didn’t know what to say. I just stood there shaking, my hand was trembling like a leaf. Then angrily one of the men asked the same question again. I was stunned could these be the kidnappers my uncle warned me about?

All of a sudden one of the angry and very strong men started to tug me by the arms. I tried to pull back and struggle against them, but he was too strong for me. But I quickly came to my senses and I zapped the wand out and as they were still ceasing my arms. Then
“Zap!”
The wand suddenly bursted out and took those nasty men away. The room went silent.

Maddie was so in shock that she felt that she couldn’t speak nor move. She just stood there. But eventually she breathed a sigh of relief knowing that those horrid men had gone. Now knowing that she was safe she went back to what she was doing earlier, sleeping. But little did she know that this was only the start of the adventure.

Self defence course

Today at school all the year 7 and 8 girls had a self defense course that Rosie organised. It wasn't like a karate type course it was more protecting yourself from difficult situations.
Linda the lovely lady that was taking us told us stories of teenages and adults that were in difficult situations and how they dealt with it. We practiced quick kicks and kneeing people if they grab us (but don't worry no one got hurt)! We had heaps of fun and now know what do in situations:)
Here is a photo of us girls listening to a story:

Dear Appointment Panel (Mr T, Wendy and Mrs P)

I am writing to you today to apply for positions on the student leadership teams. I would like to be considered for being a Deputy house leader for Earth. I would also love to be considered for the Ambassador Team, Catering Team and Sports Team.

First of all here are some reasons why I am great for the role of a Deputy house leader. I am a awesome role model to the younger and older children. I am also a helpful person who is always ready for a challenge. I can also manage a group well and give instructions clearly to children, and adults sometimes😉. I always try not to give up with challenges that hits me. I perceive and try to reach my goals to the max. I am lastly a reliable person who is always ready to help and be a responsible leader.

Here are a few reasons why I am suited for the Ambassador team. I am firstly a hardworking year 7 with great ideas and is always ready to help out with services to the school e.g Phone Duty, Jump Jam, Wet day monitor etc…! I am also a confident kid that loves speaking to an audience (you can ask Alice how my speech went). And also who is great with little children and telling them all about what school is like, you can ask my previous and current buddies if you want (Heidi, Courtney and Grace B). I am also a kind listener and who has a good understanding about Springston. I would really love to see some more whole school or senior activities that I could help plan out with the rest of the Ambassador team. Now here is a few words why my friends think I'm great for this team:
“She is great at organising things as she helped me with shave for a cure day. She is also a great role model to younger and older kids.” -Rosie

“She is great at making sure that when she is a wet day monitor that the kids with eat what they are suppose to aka sandwiches. She is also a reliable friend.”  -Phoebe B

“She is a really organised friend. Who is reliable and doesn't muck around. -Sarah

Thirdly here are some reasons why I would love to be in the catering team. I am great at cooking\baking things and I reckon my skills will definitely help out with this team. I also LOVE cooking and experimenting at home with mum and making crazy things with my brother.
I am a person strives to do the best I can and when something isn't quite right I will still keep on going. I also believe I am fantastic for this team because I do know how to cook sausages and plate them up and all that Jazz! I would love helping out with the starting school parties. I would really like to see some more starting school parties this year and maybe some more sausage sizzles and Icy Slices.

Lastly here are some reasons why I’m good for the Sport team. I play quite a lot of sports; Hockey, Tennis, Swimming, Touch etc… I am also great at learning and teaching sport games. I am also a well organised person who can plan out new sports  games and also can organise similar things like the mini olympics we had last year. I am also a reliable person who you can trust to put the sports gear out and away. This year I would really like to see something very similar to the mini olympics. I think I could definitely help out with that.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I hope you take me into consideration to be part of these teams.

Yours sincerely,

Emily T
